Why Rent RV Storage?
July 18, 20177 Ways to Maintain Your RV
July 18, 2017So, you’ve finally considered to rent out an RV storage space; keeping in mind all the benefits they have to offer in comparison to renting out a space in an open parking area, or a garage.
Here, we have few things that you should keep in mind, when storing away your RV:
Cover, Cover, Cover your RV Properly
If you will be using an RV cover for storage purposes, make sure that it is breathable; in order to prevent mold and mildew from growing. Make sure you inflate and cover the tires and protect them properly.
Blinds Down!
When storing away your RV, always keep all blinds down. This measure helps to protect your valuable furniture from being damaged by sunrays. Moreover, it also acts as an additional barrier; if a rodent tried to find its way in.
Clean and Seek Protection from Bugs
Check thoroughly and remove any perishable items. Defrost and clean your refrigerator, put some baking soda in and leave the door open; to prevent any odor from developing.
Additionally, cover any vents that may allow bugs to crawl in and switch off the main LPG supply valve.
Shut down appliances
Make sure that you unplug your coffee machine, refrigerator, all and any lamps or electricity operated device and/or appliance, to ensure that your RV’s battery doesn’t get drained out.
We highly suggest that take an additional step by shutting down the main breaker of the RV.
Winterize your system
This is a very important step during cold weather. Pour some non-toxic antifreeze through your water system, thus preventing your water lines from freezing or at times, cracking. You can also take out your battery and store it away. Add fuel stabilizer to your RV and run your engine once in every two months; to ensure proper functioning.
While, there is a long list of things to do and don’t when preparing your RV to be stored away, these tips will definitely help your short-term storage and long-term storage needs, both.
